Under the New Drivers Act your driving licence will be revoked if a driver builds up six or more penalty points within two years of passing their first driving test. They will need to reapply for their driving licence as a learner driver and re-sit their driving test.
Any penalty points they gain before passing their first driving test are taken into account. However, having six or more doesn’t mean their licence will be revoked straight after they pass their test.
Gaining further points after passing their test, taking their total to six or more, will mean their licence will be revoked.
