Under the Data Protection Act 1998, individuals have a right to have a copy of the information held about them on computer and in some manual filing systems. This is known as right of subject access. If you do receive a right of subject access request, you must deal with it promptly within 40 days of receiving it. This includes all records you may have on your pupils such as progress record cards and personal data.
